A strong line of storms moved through Carroll EMC’s service territory early Monday morning, March 16, 2026, causing widespread outages across the system.
The storms began around 5:00 a.m., prompting an immediate and full-scale response. All Carroll EMC line personnel were mobilized, along with five contractor crews, to assess damage and begin restoration efforts as quickly and safely as possible.
The primary cause of outages was downed trees and limbs, which led to numerous instances of damaged and downed power lines. At the peak of the storm, approximately 6,600 members were without power across more than 130 device locations.
Despite challenging conditions, including additional gusty winds from a passing cold front later in the day, crews worked diligently to restore service. While the official restoration target was 8:00 p.m., isolated outages continued to occur into the evening due to ongoing weather impacts.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Carroll EMC crews and contractors, power was fully restored to all affected members by Tuesday morning, March 17.
Carroll EMC extends its appreciation to members for their patience and understanding, and commends the hard work and commitment of all personnel involved in the restoration effort.
