The Carroll County Community Chorus will celebrate the county’s bicentennial with its Carroll County 200th Anniversary Concert, at the Carrollton Center for the Arts, April 11.
The concert’s setlist will pay tribute to many Carroll County composers and will include the premiere of new works by Ed Hogan, Chris Lewis and Mark Zickefoose.
Chorus Conductor Terry Lowry credits Arts Center Manager Tim Chapman for suggesting the chorus and other groups with which Lowry is involved feature local composers during the county’s bicentennial year.
“He asked me if I thought there were enough local composers to make the project meaningful,” Lowry said. “Between the Carroll Symphony Orchestra, the Carrollton Wind Ensemble and the Carroll County Community Chorus, we will present 22 compositions by 17 local composers.”
The show is funded by United Community Bank and Carroll County and starts at 7:30pm. Tickets are $10 and are on sale at the center’s box office or online at carrolltonarts.com.
