Bank of America Proposed for Former O’Charley’s at Newnan Crossing

A long-vacant restaurant property at Newnan Crossing could soon see new life as Bank of America is reportedly proposing a new branch location at the former O’Charley’s site near Target and other major retailers.

According to the City of Newnan’s proposed and current construction development map, plans tied to Bank of America have been submitted for review for the former O’Charley’s restaurant property at Newnan Crossing Shopping Center. The center, managed by Kite Realty, is one of Newnan’s busiest retail hubs and is anchored by Target alongside several national retailers and restaurants.

The O’Charley’s location has sat vacant for quite some time following the restaurant’s closure, with the highly visible property generating speculation over what tenant might eventually redevelop the site.

At one point, Outback Steakhouse had been exploring the location for a potential restaurant. The company was even briefly reflected on leasing materials tied to the shopping center before those plans ultimately fell through. Since then, the former restaurant building has remained empty.

While Bank of America has not yet appeared on the official Newnan Crossing leasing map, the proposal’s appearance on the city’s development tracker shows activity is underway behind the scenes. Details about the project remain limited at this stage, and the plans are still pending review and approval by the city.

At this time, there is no confirmed timeline for construction or opening. It is also currently unknown what impact, if any, the proposed location could have on Bank of America’s existing branch presence along Bullsboro Road.

Additional details are expected to become available as the review process moves forward.
