The Community Foundation of West Georgia (CFWG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mitchell Rogers as its next President, following a comprehensive search process led by the Board of Directors. Rogers will succeed longtime President Kim Jones, whose retirement marks the close of a significant chapter in the Foundation’s history.
For more than two decades, CFWG has served as a trusted steward of charitable giving across Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties, connecting donors with community needs, administering competitive grant cycles, and building long-term philanthropic resources that strengthen local nonprofits. The selection of Rogers reflects the Board’s commitment to continuing that work while expanding the Foundation’s impact and reach in the years ahead.
Rogers brings a strong background in nonprofit and philanthropic leadership. He most recently served with the Community Foundation of Northeast Alabama as Interim President and CEO and Vice President of Community Partnerships, where he worked closely with donors, nonprofit partners, and community stakeholders to grow charitable assets and align resources with local priorities. His experience includes leading collaborative initiatives designed to deepen community investment and strengthen organizational sustainability.
He holds degrees in marketing and business administration from Jacksonville State University and is a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy (CAP®). Rogers and his family reside in Carrollton.
Board Chair Nichole Pezold shared that Rogers stood out for both his leadership approach and his understanding of the community foundation model.
“Community foundations are uniquely positioned at the intersection of generosity and community need,” Pezold said. “Mitchell understands how to listen well, build trust, and bring people together around shared priorities. That is essential in this work. With a talented staff and an engaged Board already in place, we are confident in his ability to lead with vision and help position CFWG for continued growth and service to our communities.”
Rogers expressed his enthusiasm for stepping into the role and honoring the work that has brought CFWG to this moment.
“I am incredibly honored to lead the Community Foundation of West Georgia into its next chapter. Kim Jones built an extraordinary legacy of trust and impact across Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties, and my goal is to honor that foundation while looking dynamically toward the future.
As our region continues to grow, new opportunities will emerge to innovate, deepen our partnerships with local nonprofits, and help donors connect their passion with purpose.
Together with our dedicated board and staff, I look forward to expanding our reach and ensuring CFWG remains a vibrant catalyst for positive, lasting change.”
Rogers will join the Foundation as it continues its core work in donor services, competitive grantmaking, and community partnerships across the three-county region. The Board and staff look forward to welcoming him and supporting a smooth leadership transition in the months ahead.
