The fourth annual The Blues Is Alright festival will fill Carrollton’s Legends West Park with the sweet, soulful sound of rhythm and blues, September 12.
The event is presented by Fred O’Neal in celebration of the life of his father, Charlie W. O’Neal, who led a blues band until his death in 2013.
“This idea came about as I celebrated my father’s 90th birthday posthumously,” said Fred O’Neal. “This year is really special as our featured guest, Lakeside, is a platinum selling R and B band that has a great music history. Featured singer Mark Wood’s family has roots in the Burwell area and many of them will come out to reconnect and support him. We are thankful to the city of Carrollton for their gracious support and look forward to continuing the festival for many years to come.”
In addition to Lakeside, the festival will feature live performances by singer, songwriter, navy veteran and Villa Rica native Jelinda Hill and Atlanta-based singer Zeke Potter.
The free community event begins at 3 pm at the park, located at 215 Fourth Street in Carrollton. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and settle in for an afternoon of live music.
