What makes a home? Is it the place? Is it the people we in our lifetimes? Or is it the values we carry? Using songs from classic and contemporary Broadway musicals, Songs & Stories: A Cabaret is centered on the concept of home and how it evolves while we travel through life, bringing a glimpse into the different meanings of what it means to be home.
The second production of UWG Theatre Company’s “Home is Where the Heart Is” season, Songs and Stories will explore how the meaning of home can change based on the people and places that influence us, and how home can contribute to our own identities. Directed by senior Theatre and Music double major Eliana Castillo-Nunez for her Theatre capstone project, the show will include innovative bridges between each popular musical song as the cast will use their own personal experiences, to define “home.”
Songs & Stories: A Cabaret, is an annual musical event focusing on different themes each year. A co-production between the UWG Theatre and Music programs, Songs & Stories is more than a student project. It is a fully realized and intimate production that allows its artists and audience to connect in a meaningful and entertaining way. Come join us and experience these evolving artists’ work before they make it “big” in the “business!” Sing along with brilliant music from American musical theatre and witness what these young creatives do with these classic songs.
Songs & Stories: Cabaret: Home will be performed in the Townsend Center Dangle Theater on Wednesday, November 11th through Saturday, November 14th at 7:30 PM, with a matinee on Sunday, November 15th at 2:30 PM. The community preview for this show will be Tuesday, November 10th at 7:30 PM. Tickets will be $15 for adults, $5 for students with school ID and children 16 years of age and younger, and $10 for seniors and military. Community Preview tickets are discounted at $5 per person.
