Niche.com has released its latest rankings of school systems across the country, with Carrollton City Schools being recognized among the top districts in Georgia, earning the seventh spot in the state and ranking in the top 5% nationwide. Beyond overall performance, Niche evaluates districts in several categories, including which schools have the best teachers. Carrollton City Schools posted strong results in this area, ranking seventh statewide.

Always working to uphold the gold standard, Carrollton City Schools moved up five spots this year in state rankings and proved again to be nationally commended. Niche continually updates how it calculates its metrics to improve its methodology and reflect components that matter to families when selecting schools for their children.

According to Niche, the organization chose to incorporate relevant state-level data rather than only federally reported information to provide the most current data, allowing updates to be incorporated into the following year’s rankings. A district’s academics score accounts for 50%, an increase from the previous year’s 30% weight, and is based on proficiency in state assessments, college enrollment data, and direct stakeholder feedback. The category scoring teacher quality is valued at 15% of the score because Niche emphasizes the vital importance educators have on student outcomes that are naturally tied into the academic factor. The remaining considerations are the resources and facilities score at 5%, and extracurriculars and sports factors weighted at 2%. These metrics, along with millions of reviews from students and parents valued at 12.5%, result in the comprehensive rankings.

“We are proud of our district and teachers for being recognized among the best in the state and the nation,” said Dr. Mark Albertus, superintendent of Carrollton City Schools. “Our teachers and staff go above and beyond to ensure every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential, and it’s rewarding for outside organizations to celebrate the great work we see happening in our schools every day.”

Carrollton City Schools ranks in the top 10 for all categories: seventh for Best School Districts, seventh for Best Teachers, eighth for Best Places to Teach, second for Most Diverse Districts, and fourth for Best for Athletes. Carrollton City Schools was compared to 177 public school systems across Georgia.

Niche’s Best School Districts rankings combine rigorous analysis of data from the U.S. and state departments of education, focusing on factors like academics, teachers, culture and diversity, and millions of reviews from students and parents about their local schools.
