Free Spring Concerts Under The Stars Return to Douglasville
Douglasville, Georgia – Music, free and outdoors, taking advantage of warming spring evenings, will be available at the historic downtown Douglasville O’Neal Stage on the first three Saturdays of May, presented by the Cultural Arts Council of Douglasville/Douglas County, from 7-9pm.
“We are presenting a diversity of genres so that there will be something for everyone,” said Davina Grace Hill, Executive Director of the Arts Council. Funded by the City of Douglasville, these concerts bring people into the heart of Douglasville to enjoy local restaurants and stores and relax with an evening of good music.
Saturday, May 3rd first concert will feature Caroline and the Ramblers . Rockabilly and country blend with a powerful stage presence to become Caroline and the Ramblers, who were the hit of last year’s Surf Fest. Influenced by Patsy Cline, Hank Williams, Jr. and Elvis, Caroline has been voted best vocalist several times by Creative Loafing.
Saturday, May 10th brings Frankie’s Blues Mission to the stage. The mission? To present blues, jazz, zydeco, and R&B from the finest African-American tradition and performed energetically. Rooted in tradition Frankie’s Blues Mission brings a fresh, invigorating sound to their music.
And who else to grace the stage on Saturday, May 17th but the Atlanta Seventeen Orchestra. A focus on the 40’s Big Band music will commemorate Armed Forces Day and swing dancers are encouraged to come and dance the night away. This concert concludes a day of many activities in Downtown Douglasville, after TASTE OF DOUGLASVILLE has ended.
All concerts are free, start at 7pm and conclude around 9pm. Attendees are urged to bring their own lawn chairs for a memorable series of concerts under the stars.
The Cultural Arts Center is located at 8652 Campbellton Street in historic downtown Douglasville, Georgia, located about 20 miles from Atlanta and just off I-20 (exit 36).
