The Housing Authority of the City of Carrollton will be hosting its 5th Annual Fatherhood Initiative Event scheduled for Friday, June 28, 2019.
The mission of the 5th Annual Fatherhood Initiative Event is to provide a day of family-friendly games and other fun activities, while delivering a wide variety of community resources to help strengthen, empower, and improve the quality of life for Carroll County families. Families will be connected with local community partners in the areas of health, education, self-sufficiency, and economic empowerment, as well as other beneficial opportunities to encourage stronger, healthier families.
This year’s event will focus on celebrating fathers, mothers, and parents of all kinds for their committed involvement and the positive impact they have in the lives of their children and in the community as a whole.
In 2011, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) began its focus on Father’s Day in order to raise awareness about the importance of fathers being involved in the lives of their children. Since that time, HUD has expanded its focus to include mothers, children, and parents of all kinds because strong, healthy families and communities are essential to the growth and development of children. The Fatherhood Initiative Event aims to strengthen and empower families; nurture existing and facilitate new, positive relationships between parents and children; and provide support and resources to enhance family bonds.
The event is free and open to the public. There will be food, music, games, prizes, and community resources for the whole family! It will be held at Legends West Park in Carrollton from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. There are an expected 300+ attendees from the local community to be at the event.
