Carrollton Center for the Arts Welcomes Eclectic New Season

The Carrollton Center for the Arts’ 2021-2022 season will bring a broad spectrum of performances, exhibits and special events to downtown Carrollton this fall and into the coming year.

Several professional touring acts will make a stop here this season, including: Garrison Keillor with special guests Robin and Linda Williams, November 5; Craig Meyer as Almost Elton John, January 14; 3 Redneck Tenors, February 19; Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, March 25 and a celebration of women in music, She’s A Rebel, April 22.

The new season will feature three Carroll County Community Theatre productions: Clue: On Stage, September 17 – 19; It’s a Wonderful Life Radio Show, December 3 – 5 and 9 to 5: The Musical, March 4, 5, 6,11,12 and 13.

The Carroll County Community Chorus will present Christmas in Carrollton, December 10 – 11, and All American Concert, April 8 – 9.

The Carrollton Jazz Orchestra returns with their fall concert, November 12; Christmas with All That Jazz, December 16 and their spring concert, April 28.

Celebrating its tenth anniversary, the Carrollton Wind Ensemble will perform its fall concert, October 14; Christmas concert, December 14 and spring concert, featuring the music of George Gershwin, May 12.

The Carroll Symphony Orchestra’s CSO Masterworks Winter Concert will make the perfect Valentine’s date night, February 10.

The beloved Christmas classic, Nutcracker Ballet returns, November 19 – 21.

A variety of exhibitions that highlight the talents of local and regional artists are coming to the center’s Roush Gallery and Galleria, including: Pop-Up: Peek, Push & Pull – Moveable Books, July 29 – September 2; Verisimilitude, featuring the work of Dominic Lippillo, John Morris, Casey McGuire and Mark Schoon, September 9 – October 22; Glass in The Making, with glass works by Georgia artists, October 29 – December 9; Painter David Boyd, Jr.’s Southern Impressions, January 6 – February 17; Susan Lightcap’s Vessels of the Spirit, April 7 – May 19; Big Voices: Celebrating Visual Storytelling in Children’s Literature, May 26 – July 7; Introspections, featuring artists from the Art Takeover UWG Student Juried Exhibition, August 12 – September 9; Georgia Artists with Disabilities, January 6 – February 3 and Mike Swafford’s This, That and the Other, May 26 – July 7.

The Carrollton Artist Guild’s Small Packages show, featuring works that fit within a cubic foot of space and a selection of the Carrollton Writer’s Guild’s members’ work, returns, November 5 – December 13. The guild’s Color Story: Carrollton Artist Guild Juried Exhibition explores how color is used as a driving force of design and concept, February 24 – March 24.

The Arts Festival of Carrollton will once again welcome more than 70 visual artists from across the United States, October 9 – 10.

A luncheon with Garrison Keillor, host of Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion, November 4, will join returning favorites like the Mountainfilm festival, January 2, and the Susan Hayward Tribute film, The Honey Pot, January 8, on the center’s special events calendar. The center will also present the premiere of Grasshopper Tea and the Basement of Wonder, Mimi Gentry and Scott Foxx’s puppet performance featuring tall tales, original music and memorable characters, telling the historic story of West Georgia, October 30.

The Center for the Arts suggests patrons purchase season tickets, which saves 20 percent off the face value of tickets and guarantees seats to sold-out performances and concerts. Season tickets can be ordered by phone at (770) 838-1083, purchased in person at the Center for the Arts at 251 Alabama Street Tuesday through Friday, 12-5:30pm, or online at www.carrolltonarts.com.Current season ticket holders can renew, July 12 through July 23. New season tickets sales begin July 26 and end August 13. Individual event ticket sales begin, August 16. Center for the Arts membership packages can also be purchased.
