Newnan Carnegie Presents a Storywalk on the LINC

The Newnan Carnegie is proud to present the Newnan Carnegie Library StoryWalk® on the LINC trail. StoryWalk® is an innovative and delightful way for children – and adults! – to enjoy reading and the outdoors at the same time. Laminated pages from a children’s book are attached to wooden podiums, which are installed along the LINC trail. As you stroll down the trail, you’re directed to the next page in the story.

The project was funded by the Newnan Carnegie Library Foundation (NCLF) and The Edgar B. Hollis Trust and the wooden podiums were custom built by Dan Kazmierczak. The book on the StoryWalk® is Pete the Cat. I Love My White Shoes by Eric Litwin and James Dean. The StoryWalk® will be on display through the first week of January 2022.

“We have been working on this project for a few years so it is very exciting to see it come to fruition,” says Carnegie Director, Susan Crutchfield. “Carnegie staff including Elizabeth Ruppel and Teri Anderson have been working very hard on designing the pages and coordinating the design of the podiums with NCLF Board Member, Tim Bowyer and Dan Kazmierczak. We could not have done this without financial support from the NCLF and the Hollis Trust and manpower support from the City of Newnan’s Beautification Department. We hope that all Newnan citizens get a chance to go out and check out this wonderful new addition to our community.”

StoryWalk®

StoryWalk® was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT. StoryWalk® have been installed in 50 states and 13 countries including, Germany, Canada, England, Bermuda, Russia, Malaysia, Pakistan and South Korea.
