Guthrie’s Is Coming to Peachtree City

Guthrie’s, the popular chicken chain seen by many as the grandfather of the fried chicken tender, is bringing another location to Georgia.  Already with nine restaurants spread across the state and another under construction in Cumming, a new Guthrie’s is coming to 2021 N. Commerce Drive in Peachtree City.

The freestanding Peachtree City restaurant will be 1,870 square feet and be located beside the existing McAlister’s Deli.

The Guthrie’s menu is deliberately very simple, offering chicken tenders – a la carte, on a sandwich or in a bucket, fries, toast, slaw, sweet tea and sodas.

The Auburn-based chain launched in 1965 by Hal Guthrie proudly proclaims itself “the original chicken finger restaurant.”  Today the chain includes more than 40 locations across seven states.  Many other chicken chains – Raising Cane’s and Zaxby’s among them – either directly or indirectly credit their concept to inspiration from Guthrie’s.

Peachtree City has seen a rise in chicken chain expansion with new locations of Super Chix (at The Avenue) and Popeyes (in front of Costco) having recently opened, with others reportedly in the works.
