There is a new addition coming to Maple Street in a hot spot for business, the former Spyro Gyro location. Parachute Carrollton Plasma Center is making its way to town and will be located at 1022 Maple Street. The development will consist of a 6,388-square-foot medical building with the associated parking lots and driveway. Currently there is a permanently closed restaurant at this location. The site’s total area is about 0.86 acres, and according to the city of Carrollton the building would be renovated for the new tenant. Currently the plans are under review by the city.
Access to plasma is a global health crisis. In the U. S. alone almost four million units of plasma are needed annually for the millions of people in this country who depend on plasma, according to Parachute. At a Parachute facility donors are able to contribute plasma to the ongoing health crisis. Plasma is made of about 90% water and 10% proteins, and a person’s body regenerates it every 24 hours. The service that Parachute offers is ideal for students, adults, or retired elderly who are looking to make some extra cash. Those who are interested can download the Parachute app to use their in-app appointment system to select times that fit their schedules.
Donations take approximately an hour, but first-time donors should allot approximately three hours for registration, health screening, vitals check, and a physical which is required for all new members. To the first appointment, donors must bring proof of identification, proof of address, and proof of social security number. The best way to do this is to bring in a social security card, state issued identification card or driver’s license, and a piece of mail dated within the past 30 days. Members will be allowed to donate twice every seven days with at least one day between donations.
Parachute has an easy payment model that informs donors how much they will earn before even setting foot into the plasma center. At the first visit a donor receives a Visa card that has ATM access and can be used as a debit card. Payments are processed to this card as soon as the donation visit is complete. There will be an itemized receipt available for review in the Parachute app with a breakdown of earnings. Members can earn between $30-$40 as their donation base payment.
