Guitarist Stacy Mitchhart brings the blues of Nashville’s Printers Alley to Carrollton’s Amp, Saturday, August 3 at 8pm.
As a child, Ohio native Mitchhart saw the outrageous rocker Little Richard on TV and was captivated by his showmanship. However, blues artists like Bobby “Blue” Bland and B.B. King pointed the way for the young six-stringer. Another inspiration, Cincinnati guitarist, singer and preacher Frank Hedges, played guitar in an almost drum-like style which Mitchhart said taught him to concentrate on the groove.
Mitchhart developed his sound and stagecraft in Cincinnati where he also began his recording career with 1993’s Blues Transfusion. Since then, he’s made a dozen more albums, including 2009’s critically heralded Grown Ass Man and 2010’s Live From B.B. King’s. When he played his first gigs in Nashville almost 20 years ago, he knew he’d found his musical home. He was soon offered the house band slot at Printers Alley’s famed Bourbon Street Blues and Boogie Bar. Nearly two decades after hitting town, Mitchhart’s name has become synonymous with blues in Music City.
