Carrollton, GA – The Community Foundation of West Georgia is proud to announce the 2024 recipients of the Power of the Purse grants, a program dedicated to funding initiatives that support women and children in Carroll, Haralson, and Heard counties. This year, a total of $17,600 has been awarded to nine local organizations, each chosen for their impactful work in the community.
The 2024 Power of the Purse grantees are:
Adell Foundation – Funding for their Homeless Student Program which aims to provide free afterschool and school break mindfulness workshops with an evening meal, free monthly personal hygiene kits, laundry tokens/vouchers, free monthly parent night out events, and extracurricular activities to help prevent caregiver burnout,
Anotherway Foundation – Support for their Access to Mental Health for Mothers and Children program, which will identify mothers and children in the Heard, Carroll and Haralson communities that are in need of financial support to start or maintain mental health services and will partner with Pathways to provide the payment for services provided for an initial assessment as well as a minimum of two follow-up appointments with a counselor,
Be the Light Medical Missions – Funding for their Women’s Free Health Clinic, giving them the opportunity to serve more women in the area by staffing the clinic with more staff for the event, specifically a nurse practitioner that’s specialized in women’s health,
Carroll County Child Advocacy Center – Support for their “Child Abuse is Preventable” community training project which will train over 300 on how to prevent, recognize and appropriately respond to child sexual abuse,
Giving Hearts – Funding for their Hispanic Outreach Program, which will supply food to the local Hispanic community via a mobile pantry and/or a satellite pantry,
House of Cherith – Support for their “Mommy and Me” program, which safely houses mothers and children who have suffered the trauma of sexual abuse, exploitation, trafficking, and domestic violence,
Rapha Clinic of West Georgia – Funding for their Women’s Health Initiative 24/25, which will help serve 37 total patients in need of desperate medical attention,
Three Rivers Regional Commission – Support for their Emergency Response Buttons project, which will provide 30 Emergency Response Buttons (ERS) to the elderly in the community,
True-Liif – Funding for their “Beyond the Bell” transportation project, which focuses on procuring safe and reliable transportation so that they can mitigate one of the larger issues their families face: the ability to transport their children between home, school, before/after school, work, and everywhere else in between.
