Local Students Selected to Delta Community’s High School Apprentice Program

Several local students were selected to Delta Community Credit Union’s High School Apprentice Program. This year’s apprentice group is comprised of 17 students from nine metro Atlanta counties, including the following from area schools:

Coweta County

  • Sidney Brown from Northgate High School
  • Angela Romero from Newnan High School

Fayette County

  • Griffin Gwin from Whitewater High School

Paulding County

  • Landon Walraven from North Paulding High School

The credit union’s High School Apprentice Program is part of the Georgia Work-Based Learning Program and allows the students to work as part-time tellers for the credit union’s various branches. Brown and Romero are serving as apprentices at Delta Community’s Newnan branch on Highway 34 East. Gwin is working at the credit union’s Fayetteville branch and Walraven is at its Woodstock branch.

“Each student impressed us during the application and interview process, and we are thrilled they will support our branches in providing our members with superior value and service,” said Gary Fisher, a senior recruiter at Delta Community. “Their experiences throughout this program will provide valuable real-world skills to help jumpstart their careers.”

220 students have participated in the credit union’s work-based learning initiative since it launched in 2006. Delta Community is currently one of the top employers of students in the state’s work-based learning program.
