Steve Cromer, Vice President of Economic Development at West Georgia Technical College (WGTC), recently completed the Technical College System of Georgia’s (TCSG) Senior Leadership Academy, a transformative professional development program aimed at advancing careers within TCSG and its 22 colleges. Cromer was one of 26 participants in the program’s second cohort, which consisted of individuals who have displayed outstanding potential for leadership. Graduates were celebrated at a ceremony in Savannah, GA.
“The graduates of our Senior Leadership Academy represent the future of leadership across our technical colleges,” said TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier. “These talented individuals have demonstrated a strong commitment to student success and workforce development, and I am confident they will continue to drive positive change for Georgia’s communities.”
The Senior Leadership Academy is a flagship initiative of TCSG designed to identify, nurture, and equip leaders within the organization with the skills and knowledge required to excel in leadership roles. It is a yearlong program divided into eight two-day sessions. The graduates received 160 hours of content, including 18 hours of leadership training through the University of Georgia Carl Vinson Institute of Government.
“Our graduates from this year’s Senior Leadership Academy embody the values and vision that drive the Technical College System of Georgia,” said TCSG President of Executive Leadership and Talent Initiatives, Dr. Alvetta Thomas. “Their journey through this program has equipped them with enhanced skills and insights that will empower them to make a lasting impact across our campuses and communities. We are proud of their growth and the fresh perspectives they bring to the future of technical education in Georgia.”
The Academy is designed to provide participants with a greater understanding of the operation and administrative functions of TCSG and its colleges such as strategic planning, data driven decision making, budgeting, student affairs, compliance, workforce development, and legal services, among others.
