Community Foundation of West Georgia Awards Over $285,000 to 27 Local Nonprofit Organizations

The Community Foundation of West Georgia has announced the recipients of its 2024 Community Impact Grants. This year, over $285,000 in grants has been awarded to 27 local nonprofit organizations, supporting initiatives that enhance arts, education, the environment, and social services in Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties.

“These grants are a testament to the vibrant nonprofit community in West Georgia, and we are thrilled to support these impactful projects,” said Kim Jones, President of CFWG. “By investing in local organizations, we’re fostering growth and collaboration, helping our region thrive.”

The grants reflect the Foundation’s commitment to enhancing the quality of life in West Georgia by supporting a wide range of projects that inspire creativity, advance education, promote environmental stewardship, and uplift social services.

The following nonprofits have been selected for 2024 Community Impact Grants:

Arts & Culture

  • Carrollton Center for the Arts: 22nd Annual Arts Festival of Carrollton
  • Carrollton Writers Guild: Carrollton BookFest 2025
  • Southeastern Quilt and Textile Museum: Exhibit and Public Program Support
  • Villa Rica High School Band: Band Instrument Procurement Project

Education:

  • Carroll Tomorrow: Carroll County Junior Chamber of Commerce
  • Central Elementary School: One School, One Book
  • Ferst Readers of Carroll County: Program Support
  • Ferst Readers Haralson: Program Support
  • Friends of the Whitesburg Public Library: New Carpet Squares at Harvey’s House of Books
  • Heard County Community Partnership: HEROEs – Heard Educational Rewards of Excellence
  • Learning Always Means Progress (LAMP): Stay in School Program
  • Sharp Creek Elementary: Firing Up Creativity! Empowering Student Learning and Engagement Through a Ceramics Program
  • University of West Georgia: Latinx WELL – Wellness Enhancement through Lifelong Learning
  • University of West Georgia Foundation: Ignite: Social-Communication & Play Skills Groups to Support Young Children with Autism and Their Families
  • West Georgia Prevention & Advocacy Resource Center Inc.: Prevention Programming in Schools in Carroll County and Carrollton City
