Carroll County Schools cut the ribbon November 14 on the new J.C. Daniell Operations Center — a new home for School Nutrition, Alternative Programs, Maintenance and the Transportation Department. Special guests were the family of J.C. Daniell, Carroll County’s sole commissioner from 1960-1968. Daniell was a true public servant who improved Carroll County, its schools, ballfields, roads, bridges and other public places. Under his guidance, the county aided schools with parking lots, driveways, and 20 acres of property to be used for a technical school which became Carroll Technical Institute and ultimately West Georgia Technical College.
Over 100 members of the Carroll County community were able to tour the five new buildings after hearing remarks from Superintendent Scott Cowart, Board of Education Chairman Bryant Turner and three grandsons of J.C. Daniell. School Nutrition provided a beautiful reception held in the shop area where technicians maintain the county’s fleet of around 200 school buses. Thank you to everyone who attended to celebrate the legacy of J.C. Daniell and dedicate the operations center to his memory.
