Mandy Peace has mastered the flavor test. I know that because when I tried her lemon blueberry flavor, I forgot I was eating a cupcake. That’s how accurate it was! Peace’s bakery, Peace in Cupcakes, located ion Maple Street in Carrollton, has been in the business of pleasantly surprising customers for almost four years – and she intends to keep the magic going.
Immediately upon entering the store, sweetness hits you like a train – in more ways than one! For almost two decades working in retail and customer service at her previous employer, Peace has the welcoming and sales down pat. Her smile and prompt descriptions help customers make their decision with ease and confidence.

For fruit lovers, strawberry cupcakes with buttercream frosting is a must.
“Strawberry was one of those flavors that I had seasonally, but when it was gone, people kept asking for it!” Peace laughed.
Chocolate lovers will want to try the cookie dough cupcake, which features a dollop of buttercream frosting thick enough to be mistaken for cookie dough.
Peace thoroughly enjoys creating flavoring syrups right there in the shop. If you’re tall enough, you can see her working tirelessly over every detail.
“I make my own flavors here,” Peace explains. “That way I can vouch for their accuracy and intensity.”
Bite into one of her macarons and you’ll be greeted with the most aromatic and delicious almond flavors ever.

And for those who shy away from cakes, have no fear. Peace in Cupcakes offers a wide variety of cookies for you to choose from. In fact, Peace took the time to try other cookies in the area so that she could say she sells the largest cookies in town! The years spent working in a big-box bakery have inspired her to think outside the box and let the creativity flow.
Peace in Cupcakes recently completed an order for a cookie cake for a wedding. Mandy created a beautiful masterpiece of multiple layers of cookies – all different flavors, too – stacked in two tiers with exposed edges. The client was in love. You can check it out on their Facebook page here.
Although she’s the shop’s sole proprietor, Peace enjoys juggling all the different parts of business ownership and shares with me that she loves watching all the moving parts come together. She has a Bachelor’s in Graphic Design and has been able to design her own cakes and even her own logo without having to outsource. She sees an increase in design plagiarism all over social media and works to restore creativity in her own space. When a client requests a specific design for a cake that is clearly impossible due to copyrighting or even unrealistic artificial design, Peace respectfully points out the issues and suggests alternatives.

“I learned to bake from my grandmother,” Peace smiles. “Those times were very special. I love sharing what I know!”
