The Three Rivers Regional Commission (TRRC) Workforce team hosted a transformative hiring event for Brightmoor Nursing Center at the Griffin Department of Labor (DOL), marking a significant impact on the local community. As a result of this collaborative effort, 22 individuals, including several who initially visited the DOL office seeking unemployment benefits, were interviewed and hired by Brightmoor Nursing Center.
In partnership with Southern Crescent Technical College, this initiative offered attendees a clear pathway to a fulfilling career in healthcare. Participants were provided with the opportunity to attend a 4-week CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) training program, earning $10/hour as hospitality aides during their training. Upon certification, participants are guaranteed a CNA position with a starting wage of $15.25/hour and a one-year employment guarantee. After successfully completing the training program, eight individuals started working on Dec. 2 and 10 are slated to start on Dec. 9 upon successful completion of background checks.
TRRC Case Manager Rhonda Caldwell led a three-day job readiness workshop with new Case Manager Manuela Lowe to prepare candidates. The workshops featured mock interviews led by TCSG Veterans Outreach Program Specialist Fredrick Thomas, equipping participants with essential skills and confidence.
“We are proud of the incredible work done by our DOL and Workforce teams for their exceptional dedication to making this event a success” said Jessica Gardner of TRRC. “This hiring event exemplifies the commitment of TRRC and its partners to driving workforce development, reducing unemployment and empowering individuals to achieve long-term career success.”
