If you’ve stopped by the Kedron World of Beverage and thought “Hey, why is it smaller?” you’re not imagining things. There’s a sweet reason for the building’s shift in size: a bakery is on the way!
Maria Chong, owner since 2020, is downsizing the liquor store to make room for a TOUS les JOURS bakery. Slated to open in July, the French-Asian bakery is known for its coffee, artisan pastries, gourmet cakes, and specialty breads — all baked in-store daily.
Initially, Maria was using the whole building for liquor, but in the last five years, “ten new liquor stores have opened around us,” she says. “We’ve lost a lot of customers, and without customer support, it’s hard to maintain such a big building.”
With that, she thought of changing the space and adding something new. “Peachtree City doesn’t have [a] fancy bakery, so I think we need it,” she says. “I’m excited to have something that everyone can eat.”
Maria hopes the TOUS les JOURS atmosphere will add something fun and different to the area. “It’s something to bring happiness and lift your mood. I think it will be a happy place for everybody.”
As for how she got started with the liquor store, she learned the business from working with her mother-in-law, and while she doesn’t drink herself, she loves the experience of running the store and getting to know the people of Peachtree City. Now she’s looking forward to something a little sweeter. “With the bakery, I can eat and enjoy…and working with more people will be fun,” she says.
Maria is thankful to her customers and those that have supported her. “Thanks to everybody in Peachtree City. I love it. I’ve been working here five years already, and I still commute from Buckhead—it’s an hour drive every day,” she shared. “One day I’d love to move here. It’s such a nice community.”
