The West Georgia Technical College (WGTC) Foundation is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity for students pursuing careers in the skilled trades, made possible by a generous gift from Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor, Inc.
The Addison Smith Mechanical Skilled Trades Scholarship will provide financial support to students enrolled in WGTC’s Air Conditioning Technology, Welding & Joining Technology, Engineering Technology, or Plumbing programs.
Addison Smith has committed to supporting two students each semester with scholarships of $1,000 each. Awardees will continue receiving funds throughout the duration of their program, provided they maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA and demonstrate financial need. In addition to financial assistance, scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to apply for an apprenticeship with Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor — offering valuable hands-on experience and a potential pathway to future career opportunities.
“We’re proud to partner with West Georgia Technical College to support students who are passionate about building careers in the skilled trades,” said Ron Haynes, Executive Director of Addison Smith Mechanical Contractor, Inc. “At Addison Smith Mechanical, we know the value of hands-on experience and technical education, and we’re excited to invest in the future of our industry by supporting the next generation of professionals.”
The WGTC Foundation will oversee the scholarship selection process to ensure support reaches students who meet the established criteria.
“This partnership with Addison Smith is a great example of how industry leaders can make a real impact on workforce development,” said Brittney Wells, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at WGTC. “Their investment will help students overcome financial barriers and achieve their educational and career goals.”
