Mayor Arrington reads to children at the first Mayor’s Reading Club on May 15th
LaGrange Mayor Jim Arrington, in partnership with Get Troup Reading and the Rotary Club of LaGrange, is hosting its second Mayor’s Summer Reading Club on Thursday, June 5th, at the William J. Griggs Recreation Center, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
Mayor Jim Arrington will help distribute June’s reading club selection and then will read the book with the group. After the reading, everyone will be invited to go outside to participate in the LaGrange Fire Department’s spray-down and enjoy free Kona Ice. The Jungle Bus, the LaGrange Police Department, the LaGrange Fire Department, the LaGrange Memorial Library, Get Troup Reading, and the Rotary Club of LaGrange will also be in attendance.
The mission of the LaGrange Mayor’s Reading Club is to provide quality books and resources that the whole family can enjoy together while strengthening the literacy skills of children ages two to ten.
The LaGrange Mayor’s Reading Club is a program from GeorgiaForward, a nonprofit organization managed by the Georgia Municipal Association. This initiative empowers mayors to lead literacy efforts in their communities and encourages reading among young children through the distribution of books and organized events.
