The former Del Taco location at 1443 North Expressway in Griffin may soon be getting a new restaurant. According to recently submitted documents, Panda Express has filed plans with the City of Griffin to take over the site.
A representative from the city’s Planning and Zoning department confirmed that the plans are currently under review. While no construction timeline has been announced yet, updates are expected once the project moves forward into the renovation phase.
As many may recall, a number of Del Taco locations across Metro Atlanta recently closed, including restaurants in Hiram, Conyers, Kennesaw, Morrow, and Woodstock. The closures were part of a broader wave reported earlier this year by Tomorrow’s News Today. This Del Taco in Griffin opened in the spring of 2021.
If approved, the new Panda Express would bring another fast-casual dining option to North Expressway, a busy corridor already home to a variety of national chains and local businesses.
Further updates will be shared as the project progresses.
