Kim Jones to Conclude More Than Two Decades of Leadership at the Community Foundation of West Georgia

After more than 20 years at the helm, Kim Jones will retire as president of the Community Foundation of West Georgia at the end of the summer.

As the foundation’s first president, Jones has guided its growth and development since it began operations in 2003. Under her leadership, the foundation’s assets have grown to more than $100 million, and it has awarded over $112 million in grants to support local nonprofits, educational programs, and community initiatives. She also developed several grant programs, including the Community Impact Grant program, which has distributed more than $5.4 million in funding.

“Serving as president of the foundation has been both an honor and a privilege,” Jones said. “I will always be grateful to the founding board for giving me the opportunity to help build an organization whose mission is to transform the community through collaboration, partnerships, and generosity. With the foundation in excellent financial condition and supported by an exceptional staff and board, this feels like the right time to retire and leave it in capable, committed hands.”

Board Chair Nichole Pezold praised Jones’s lasting impact. “We are deeply grateful to Kim for her years of leadership, dedication, and service to the foundation and our community,” Pezold said. “Her vision and commitment have helped shape the foundation into the trusted philanthropic partner it is today, and her legacy will continue to guide us for years to come.”

The Board of Directors has begun the search for the foundation’s next president. Additional details about the process will be shared in the coming weeks.
