What began as a dream of a mobile bookstore is about to become a permanent home for romance readers in Carrollton.
Anna Smoot, owner of Sundae Kind of Love, first launched her business with a unique vintage-inspired setup after deciding against the popular kei truck trend.
“When I first started planning everything, I knew I wanted to create a mobile bookstore,” Smoot said. “But I didn’t want to use the kei trucks that everyone else had been using.”
After falling in love with a used ice cream truck that was outside her budget, Smoot decided to create an old-school ice cream cart instead, paired with a vintage-style freezer she brings to events.
The mobile romance bookstore quickly became a favorite among local readers and romance fans.
“I’ve loved every second of making community and meeting fellow book lovers,” she said.
Now, Smoot is preparing for the next chapter. Sundae Kind of Love — a romance-only bookstore — will soon open its first brick-and-mortar location at 928 S. Park Street, Suite N, Carrollton, GA 30117.
The grand opening celebration will take place Saturday, June 6, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It will feature a signing with USA Today bestselling romance author Alexandra Vasti, flash tattoos from Tiffany Fox and Madison Snyder, exclusive opening day merchandise, and a bookish giveaway basket.
“I’m so grateful to everyone who’s supported me,” Smoot said. “It’s such a privilege to get to do what I do.”
