In observance of Melanoma and Skin Cancer Awareness Month, the City of Carrollton and 3:16 Healthcare have partnered with IMPACT Melanoma to increase awareness of the dangers of exposure to the sun’s UV rays.
To encourage the adoption of daily sun safe habits, 3:16 Healthcare and IMPACT Melanoma provided sunscreen and bright yellow sunscreen dispensers which the city installed at Midtown Water Park, Lake Carroll Park, Hobbs Farm Park, Lakeshore Pickleball Complex, Alabama Street Trailhead and Safari Park.
Skin cancer is the most commonly diagnosed type of cancer and the second most common form of cancer among 15-29-year-olds. When detected early, skin cancer – including melanoma – is 99 percent curable. Prevention-oriented healthy sun habits include regular use of sunscreen, wearing a hat, sunglasses and protective clothing and seeking shade to protect from the sun.
IMPACT Melanoma, a national non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, is the nation’s leading non-profit dedicated to significantly reducing melanoma in the United States. To learn more about IMPACT Melanoma, visit impactmelanoma.org.
