The East Cobb Quilters’ Guild will debut its inspiring new exhibit, Matriotism: Celebrating 250 Years of Inspirational American Women Through Quilts, at the Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum on Saturday, June 20, 2026, beginning at 2 p.m.
As the United States commemorates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the East Cobb Quilters’ Guild is honoring the women whose contributions have helped shape the nation throughout history. The exhibit highlights inspirational American women from a wide range of backgrounds, celebrating achievements in the arts, government, science, social and community service, and family life.
The collection features sixty-two handcrafted quilts created using techniques such as patchwork, appliqué, thread painting, embroidery, and both hand and machine quilting. According to organizers, the Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum will be the first venue where all sixty-two quilts will be displayed together in a single exhibition.
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience a unique blend of storytelling, history, and textile artistry through works designed to recognize women whose accomplishments have often been overlooked or underrepresented throughout American history.
The exhibit will remain on display at the Southeastern Quilt & Textile Museum through August 5, 2026.
