National Beta proudly recognizes Carrollton City Schools as a 2025-2026 National Beta District of Distinction, an honor awarded to school districts that demonstrate a strong commitment to academic achievement, leadership development, and service engagement.
This distinction is reserved for districts in which every eligible school offers National Beta and actively inducts qualifying students in grades 4-12. Carrollton City Schools is among a select group of districts across the nation to earn this prestigious recognition for the 2025-2026 school year.
Under the leadership of Superintendent Dr. Mark Albertus, along with the dedication of club sponsors and Beta members, Carrollton City Schools continues to foster a culture where students are empowered to lead, serve, and excel. Exemplifying student leadership, CCS student Liberty Thomaston recently served as National Junior Beta Club president for the 2024-2025 school year. During her year of service, Liberty traveled the country speaking at events and concluded her term at the national convention. She encouraged fellow students to participate and engage in Beta.
The school-level organizations thrive through the support of teacher sponsors, including Stephanie McDowell, Ashley Patterson, Annabelle Lambert, and Emily Dial (Carrollton Upper Elementary); Holly Lane, Bryant Hand, Sara Sales, and Amby Shoemake (Carrollton Middle); and Sarah Berg and Danielle Key (Carrollton High). Their ongoing efforts reflect a district-wide commitment to developing well-rounded students prepared for success in college, careers, and their communities.
This recognition highlights Carrollton City Schools’ overall focus on creating opportunities for students to grow academically while also building character and leadership skills through meaningful service. Leading by example, Carrollton Upper Elementary expanded club participation by doubling the number of students in the club from one school year to the next. These fourth- and fifth-graders were given the opportunity to further engage in service projects and eagerly work together to achieve the organization’s goals. This young cohort will continue to be proven student leaders within the district over the next several years.
As part of this achievement, Carrollton City Schools will receive a National Beta District of Distinction award for display at the district office. In addition, each participating school will receive recognition commemorating its contribution to this accomplishment.
