Walmart in Oxford is preparing for a major remodel at its Supercenter off Alabama 21. Construction containers are already on site, signaling that work could begin soon.
Plans show that several areas of the store will be updated, including the checkout area, customer service, pharmacy, Vision Center, restrooms, grocery department and breakroom. The electronics desk and fitting rooms are expected to be moved, and new flooring, paint and exterior signs are also planned.
The pharmacy will be remodeled and will include a new health services room. The restrooms will receive new sinks, fixtures and finishes, and a mother’s room will be added near the rear of the store.
The grocery section will also see changes, including relocated beer coolers and new hot and refrigerated deli cases. Walmart’s online pickup area will be expanded at the west corner of the building.
Plans also show a new Dunkin location going into available tenant space inside the store.
The project documents list nearly 25,000 square feet of remodeled space and more than 7,000 square feet of new construction. A public start or completion date was not included in the plans.
