Arts Center Exhibit Seeks to Lift Stigma Surrounding Addiction

A new exhibit coming to the Carrollton Center for the Arts uses art and storytelling to humanize addiction, challenge stigma and foster meaningful public dialogue.

Drug Addiction: Real People, Real Stories runs November 5 – December 14 and features original graphite portraits and personal narratives of individuals who have died from substance use disorder. The exhibit was created in partnership with the INTO LIGHT Project, The Recovery Spot of West Georgia and families from across the state.

“This exhibit explores so many different lives,” said Center for the Arts Visual Arts Coordinator Marcella Kuykendall. “It is worth taking a moment to stop by the gallery and learn a little bit more about each individual’s story.”

The arts center will host an opening reception for the exhibit, November 5, 5pm – 7pm.

This exhibit is sponsored by Hallie and Patrick Henrickson.
