Three area Babies“R”Us stores are closing due to the New Jersey based company Toys“R”Us’ declaring bankruptcy along with a court filing. The Babies”R”Us stores located at 6875 Douglas Boulevard in Douglasville, in Newnan at 221 Newnan Crossing Bypass, and a combo Toys”R”Us/Babies”R”Us at 132 Pavilion Parkway in Fayetteville were listed as part of the 182 stores closing list. Megan Sowe with Toys”R”Us Media Relations tells us, “The actions we are taking are the right and necessary step in our journey to reinvent our business. They will give us the best chance to emerge from our bankruptcy proceedings as a more viable and competitive company that will provide the level of service and experience customers expect from a market leader.”
Megan further states, “We are planning to open around a dozen co-branded Toys“R”Us/Babies“R”Us stores (the locations have not yet been announced). We are also focusing on our loyalty program which will be revamped to better serve both our Toys“R”Us and Babies“R”Us customers.”
According to a letter from Chairman and CEO David Brandon the company estimates store closing sales to begin in Early February with the majority of locations closing mid-April 2018. He says, “We welcome you to take full advantage of the deep discounts and deals available.”
