Tomorrow morning, the Douglas County Economic Development Authority will host a Career Fair at the Douglasville Conference Center located at 6700 Church Street. A joint effort put forth by the official annual sponsors, the Career Fair will take place from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The official annual sponsors of the Career Fairs are Douglas County government, the City of Douglasville, and the Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, West Georgia Technical College, Douglas County Economic Development Authority, Mercer University, and Georgia Highlands College.

“Essentially, everyone is a host of all four job fairs. The location changes, but there’s a more cohesive, continuity of structure,” explained DCEDA Project Manager Breezy Straton.

One of the main purposes of the career fair is to get people employed—to bridge the disconnect between well-paying jobs and people who are significantly underemployed. The companies that are attending the Career Fair have currently over 100 job openings. Some of the featured careers include material handlers, equipment/machine operators, and customer service.

“The hope is that someone will find a viable job that pays a livable wage that they can make a career out of,” said Straton.

All attendees are encouraged to pre-register online, dress to impress and to come prepared with a work history or resume. For attendees who may not have either, they can get help from Work Source Georgia, who will have a table inside.

If you happen to miss this Career Fair, there are three more scheduled, although they will take place at different locations. Those dates are:

  • May 1 at West Georgia Technical College (4 pm-7 pm)
  • August 1 at TBD (4 pm-7 pm)
  • October 1 at Mercer University (11 am-2 pm)
