Among all of the closures during the month of October, I have yet to understand why the Empire Grill has closed. The best burgers in town were at this restaurant. Many local artists began to call this home including one of my favorite locals, Luke White. Empire didn’t just serve hamburgers they had a variety of the soda fountain type style food. I was told by Carrollton Main Street that the Restaurant suddenly closed without notice. October seems to be a grim month for the restaurant industry in Carrollton. The Carrollton Main Street highlights local football games as the source of the problem. Many families are enjoying their Friday nights at a local game rather than going to get a nice meal somewhere. Along with The Empire Grill, also to close was The Grapevine and The Fish House. The Grapevine featured belly dancers and wine tastings. I think this was a little much for Carrollton to be honest. Places like the Grapevine work better in the city of Atlanta. Of course we all know why the Fish House closed.
