Villa Rica High School Gymnasium and
Band Room Ribbon Cutting

Monday, March 11 Villa Rica High School celebrated the opening of the new Villa Rica High School Gymnasium and Band Room. The ribbon cutting ceremony was followed by tours of the facility, a concert by the Villa Rica High School band and refreshments which were provided by Villa Rica High School. The ceremony was opened by Student Council president, Cequoyah Gates. The Villa Rica Air Force Junior ROTC presented the colors and the Villa Rica High School Chorus performed the National Anthem. Speakers included Mr. Adam Herring, principal; Mr. Rob Cleveland, board member; Mr. Scott Cowart, superintendent; and Jay Collins, Villa Rica mayor. The program included a presentation to recognize the 1969 girls’ state championship basketball team and concluded with the cutting of the ribbon and closing remarks by Ms. Shaye Parker. Tours of the 46,869 square foot gym facility, funded by ESPLOST, were led by student athletes, members of the Student Council, and Beta Club students. The new facility includes the gymnasium area, band room, concession area, coaching offices, multi purpose room, classrooms, and an athletic training room.
