About Get Healthy Live Well

Get Healthy Live Well is working to promote a healthy lifestyle and prevent chronic disease for residents of Carroll, Haralson and Heard counties by:

  • decreasing health disparities
  • reducing obesity rates
  • eliminating tobacco use
  • increasing physical activity
  • improving nutrition

We are a community network, built through collaboration and partnership, working to educate, promote and develop sustained conditions for healthier lifestyles where people live, work and play in these communities.

The Get Healthy, Live Well initiative is led by Tanner Health System with initial funding from theCommunity Foundation of West Georgia and additional funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Taking even small steps to improve your health by becoming more active, eating a nutritious diet, quitting smoking and getting connected to your community can make a tremendous positive difference in your overall well-being. That’s why we’re inviting west Georgians to:

Get Healthy Live Well is focusing on each theme with a variety of programs and awareness campaigns to offer valuable resources to west Georgians. They include free smoking cessation classes, an ongoing weight loss challenge, weekly health education classes, group exercise opportunities, community garden groups, cooking classes and opportunities to be of service by volunteering.

Are You Ready to Make a Difference?

Get Healthy Live Well is building a robust coalition of task forces designed to address the specific needs of various groups within the community. Each program is catered to the different settings where we join together to experience community: schools and universities, churches, businesses, health care facilities, public parks, community gardens and other shared spaces. There is also a growing online community to support the movement.

The impact of Get Healthy, Live Well depends on all of us offering our unique skills, dedication and time.
