Cupcakes for Tish Kilgore all started from inside her home in 2009. With the success of her in home baking operation she opened up a storefront next to the Carrollton Theater in 2012. Carrollton welcomed her opening in huge numbers! Just after a year of being next to the theater a spot on the Square became open. She quickly moved to this new location directly across the street from the AMP. The experience of more than just cupcakes allowed her to expand the menu into Popcorn, Ice Cream, treats and more. But unfortuantely in just a year of being directly across from the AMP sales have plumpted and it would seem that Carrollton has forgetton a small locally owned sweet shop. Traveling to St Augustine I had the unique opportunity to see numerous sweet shops that were bustling at the seams. I questioned how can these shops stay so busy and charge so much? That question was never answered. So bringing it back to Carrollton where Simply Cupcakes prices are actually tremdously lower than a touristy attraction or major chain sweet shop, The expericence is just the same, the taste better, the lady behind the counter makes you smile. The touch of a local sweet shop might disappear forever. Can we save the shop? I’d hope so. Make sure you stop by before the possible closure on Dec 24 and support your local sweet shop.
