Carrollton Resident Chris Nasser Qualifies For The IRONMAN World Championships

Chris Nasser
Chris Nasser

I’ve known Chris for quite sometime as we were heavily involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes at Central High School. Along with his brother Anthony Nasser, they both showed excellence in everything they did. Anthony is involved in the newly formed West Georgia Track Club which aims to bring health and wellness to the area. He also is a director at Woodland Christian Camp and a strong triathlete. His twin brother Chris Nasser just qualified for a slot at the IRONMAN World Championships in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii based on his results at the Ironman Texas a week ago in The Woodlands, Texas. This city is located just north of Houston, Texas. Chris Nasser is ranked 2nd in the U.S. within the 25-29 year old age group and 29th in the World in that same age group! As you might be aware his parents are ecstatic about seeing him compete in the October Championship in Kona, Hawaii! The IRONMAN World Championships can be best described as the Triathlon Olympics. Chris currently coaches other athletes in the Atlanta area with ITL Coaching & Performance. The IRONMAN World Championships held in Kailua-Kona will present the ultimate test on body, mind and spirit. Over 2,000 athletes will take a 140.6 mile-journey. A typical triathlon includes swimming, cycling, and running over various distances. We are very excited for Chris along with the entire community! – Jonathan @ The Carrollton Menu

We found this very moving status update on Chris Nasser’s Facebook this week, it all circles back around with Encouragement :

I received a very encouraging congratulatory email yesterday from one of the two gentlemen who helped me to get started racing in the tri world. My first race was the Carrollton Sprint Tri in the summer of 2008. Those two guys believed in me and coached me through the race on a borrowed bike. In 2010, at my college graduation, this man gifted me with my first road bike and the desire to continue training and racing….thank you for being a positive role model when I needed one and for forever changing my life. Now, I hope that though my coaching, racing, and training I can help pay it forward and be an encourager to someone else. ‪#‎LAB‬
