It’s the beginning of July and you know what that means. Time for Beer, BBQ, fireworks and celebration of our nation’s independence. Can’t make it out of town? Worry not because Douglasville has a grand celebration every year, and this year is shaping up no different. Starting with our very popular and always packed Independence Day Parade through Downtown Douglasville. The Parade starts at 10am and the route runs along Church St. This years Grand Marshall is Douglas County’s own former Braves player Terry Harper. The parade will also feature marching bands from local schools, local politicians and those hoping to replace them (this is an election year of course!), and local civic and community groups. There’s one more day to register a float if you should need to, ends tomorrow night.
Following the Parade, head over to Hunter Park for a festival and barbecue sponsored by S.H.A.R.E House of Hunter Park. A full day of activities and festivities for the kids and adults, with of course the smoky smell of BBQ! After a full day in the sun and celebration, head down to Arbor Place Mall where Douglasville will host its annual fireworks show sponsored by Gas South and Greystone Power starting just after 9pm. The show is visible in the front lot of Arbor Place Mall…but caution, this always fills up early and quick, so head there and stake out your spot.
Remember, no need to travel to have a good time for the 4th. So remember to be safe, have fun and from the Douglasville Menu, Happy and safe Independence Day!
For Last Minute entries into the Independence Day parade, head here to the Registration Form .
Many thanks to Main Street Douglasville for this and many fun filled events Downtown throughout the year.
