(Carrollton, Ga. November 10, 2015) The Sharp Creek Elementary School Singers, under the direction of Cherri Simmons, attended and performed at the Governor’s Red Ribbon Rally Kickoff. The rally consisted of schools from all grade levels and throughout the state of Georgia in attendance. The campaign kicked off a special message from the Governor about the importance of Red Ribbon Week and making choices to live a drug free life. Speakers included Miss Georgia, Adeline Kenerly, and a current Atlanta Braves pitcher to speak to the students about living drug free. Silento, the famous singer of the Whip and Nae Nae, was a special surprise guest. He performed and danced with the teachers, including Mrs. Simmons, and several students from various schools. Several schools were chosen to perform a song or talent with the theme “Respect Yourself, Be Drug Free!” The Sharp Creek Singers performed “Respect Rap” complete with drums and dance. The students and parents enjoyed the rally and encourage more schools from Carroll County to attend next year.
