We’ve had several people ask us about what is happening at the Shell Station on Hwy 5 at Interstate 20. Also asked about was the old Waffle House building behind the Shell Station, both of which are actually on the same property. We did a little digging over the past few days and we finally have an answer. According to the city building report released on Tuesday, The Shell Station on Hwy 5 will soon be repurposed for other retail. The island stands, the gas pumps and tanks will be removed and demolished. At this time we have no info on what will eventually replace the convenience store. We’ve had several people give us tips on what they have heard, but so far we are unable to confirm anything through the city or any construction sites. Now on to the Waffle House. We noticed the construction going on behind the shell station. The old building is receiving additions to the outside facade. Many people asked us if Waffle House will be opening another location at the Hwy 5 exit, absurd as a 3rd location on the same exit would seem. Turns out per reports from our source at the city, the building will soon house a relocated Enterprise Rent-a-Car spot. Currently Enterprise is located in the same shopping center with Harbor Freight Tools on Douglas Blvd. This move would be an expansion as well as offer more cars for rental. A date on the move is not known at this time.

We will keep our eyes posted on the property listing to see what eventually gets built in the old Shell Station spot. When we find out of course we will let you know.
