Since the holidays at Arbor Place, we have had some tips come into us about different store openings and closings. So now that the dust of the holidays has settled, we ventured to Arbor Place Mall, Douglasville”s powerhouse retail center, to check it out for you. Here is our spring Arbor Place update:
What’s New: A couple of new stores have popped up, but the big story in this update is that we finally have a tenant for a space that has long sat vacant. On the ground floor next to Sears, a new men’s formal-wear store has opened. Here you can find shirts, jackets, ties, shoes, and clothing for all business and formal occasions. What we don’t have, however, is a name for this new store. There is no name on the outside of the store, and no indication on a name inside of the store either.
Also new is something exciting for folks who have missed the old arcade that was near the food court. A new, modern-styled game room has opened on the first floor in the old RadioShack space. Called Who Got Game?, it has several flat screen play areas and a couple of old fashioned arcade games in the back of the store. A sign outside the space indicates they will hold game tournaments several times a month. The setup seems similar to the new Gamurz that opened just recently in Downtown Douglasville.
A quick note: There is also a new place that we covered for our Holiday update. Our story seems to have been missed during that busy season because we have had several people send us tips about this business, so we want to cover it again. Airbrush Streetwear opened on the top floor near Victoria’s Secret before the holidays. There you can get custom shirts and apparel with that favorite beachtime theme.
What’s Gone: We’ll start this one by telling you that the temporary store opened for the holidays Go Calendars! is now gone. That shop’s space, the old Victoria’s Secret spot near Belk, is now covered up and waiting for a new tenant, possibly a permanent one this time.
After a brief closing sale, Perfume Paradise is also gone. It was located next to Payless on the ground floor of the Sears wing of the mall. There are also two spaces on the first floor which are still vacant and awaiting tenants. Covered in our last update, these are the former locations of Motherhood Maternity and Jewelers Touch.
Holiday Treat: Let’s not forget that this is Easter and you-know-who’s waiting to take pictures with your tykes. The Easter Bunny is now at the mall until after Easter. You can snag a pic with him at the Macy’s courtyard on the west end of the mall every day during mall hours. Hop on down today!
Thanks to everyone sending us tips about openings and closings, especially to our really reliable tipster Bob! We’ll bring you another update towards the end of spring unless there is breaking news like a major tenant’s setting up shop or, of course, a major tenant’s folding up.
