We got another great community release from Douglas County, this time to announce the new Park Security Coordinator. Thanks as always to Wes Tallon for the great community stories.

****CHESITY HURSTON NAMED DOUGLAS COUNTY PARKS SECURITY COORDINATOR****

Ms. Chesity Hurston has been named Security Coordinator for the Douglas County Parks and Recreation Department.  Ms. Hurston will serve as Lead Officer for the Department whose goal is protecting the Public and ensuring enjoyment of the park system by everyone.

Parks Security are uniformed officers who patrol County parks to monitor rules and regulations compliance by all park visitors, including the prohibition of drugs and alcohol, pets on leashes, and no conflicts.  The officers are authorized to issue citations for violations.

Ms. Hurston is a native of Decatur, Georgia, and has always wanted to be in law enforcement due in part to the influence of family members who were already in this field.  Her experience prior to Douglas County included serving as a Corrections Officer at the Phillips State Prison in Buford, a Jailer with the Hall County Sheriff’s Department, and working in business/corporate security.  She joined Douglas County Parks Security in 2014 because she desired an experience of working with and involvement in the community.  Since her job began, she said that she has most enjoyed the interaction with park patrons, and that she hopes to be a mentor, an example to young people, and represent Douglas County in a positive way.

Ms. Hurston has already begun her duties as Parks Security Coordinator.
