Owners Josh Niesse and Megan Bell of Underground Books, Carrollton’s used, rare, and antiquarian bookstore off Adamson Square, announce plans to open another bookstore in nearby Chattahoochee Hills. Hills & Hamlets Bookshop will be located in Serenbe, a New Urban village in Fulton County, Georgia.
Hills & Hamlets Bookshop will open late this summer in the new Textile Mill Lofts building in Serenbe’s Grange Hamlet. The bookstore will carry new and antiquarian books with a special focus on Serenbe’s founding principles: art, architecture, sustainability, wellness, and nature. Serving the greater community of Chattahoochee Hills, Hills & Hamlets Bookshop will also carry independent bookstore staples: children’s and young adult books, new literary fiction, classics, spirituality, and more.
In March, Underground Books celebrated five years of serving West Georgia and beyond through the brick and mortar shop in downtown Carrollton and online bookstore UndergroundBooks.Net. Both Niesse and Bell have received specialized training in rare and antiquarian books and recently attended a seminar in independent bookstore operation to prepare for carrying new books. Both Niesse and Bell are passionate about progressive urban planning, community supported agriculture, and the arts and were inspired to open a bookstore in Serenbe after visiting in March of 2015.
Underground Books will continue to serve West Georgia with used, rare, and antiquarian books. By serving both communities, Niesse and Bell hope to contribute to Georgia’s literary scene, providing spaces to discuss, learn, and gather together.
