Now you can find your polling place with a simple app!

Another great release to pass on to you in this election year, Douglas County has made it easier for you to find your polling place in the upcoming May Primary and in November.

***DOUGLAS COUNTY DEVELOPS ELECTION POLLING PLACE APPLICATION FOR MULTIPLE PLATFORMS***

Many voters are taking advantage of advance voting and Saturday voting, but it just got a little easier if a voter wants to cast a ballot on election day itself and is not sure where to vote.  Advance and Saturday voting are at neutral locations, but election day requires voting at the person’s local precinct.

Douglas County GIS (Geographic Information Systems) has developed the “Election Polling Place App” to help registered voters find their polling place, get additional information about the polling place, and print directions if needed.  The new app is designed to work across multiple platforms (personal computer, tablets, and smart phones).

The app is free and accessible through the County web site at www.CelebrateDouglasCounty.com.  A one-button link to the app is located on the GIS Department page and the Elections Department page.  Accessing the app is simple by following the outlined procedure which is (1) click on the link to open the app; (2) enter the street address in the text box in the upper right-hand corner; (3) click the search button and the app will zoom and highlight the address, polling place, and information about the polling place.  Another click on the Directions tab, and directions to the polling place will be calculated.

The app was developed in-house by GIS Manager Ed Dean with the purpose of making it easier for people to participate in their government by voting.
