Statement from David A. Milliron on Termination of Villa Rica Employment Contract:

“I respect the City Council’s decision and know that this is always a possibility when serving as a City Manager. I feel very proud of the big things we’ve been able to accomplish since coming to Villa Rica in 2015, not the least of which is the open and transparent culture that now thrives at City Hall. I am leaving knowing that our citizens are better informed and more involved in city business than they’ve been in some time. I am also highly gratified by the successful crafting of the city’s Downtown Master Plan. For the first time, the people of Villa Rica now have a unified blueprint for what this city will be like in the years to come and how economic growth will be managed. This was no small task and essential to future prosperity. We just opened the new $3.8 million public library, the first large municipal building project we’ve had in a long time. The North Loop Bypass and Fullerville Trailhead transportation projects are fully funded. And there are more good things on the way thanks to the voter-approved $6.8 million share of Douglas SPLOST money. Being Villa Rica’s City Manager was never a job to me, it was personal. I love this city and that’s why I moved here. It has been a pleasure to work for the Villa Rica community and I wish the staff and the elected officials the best moving forward.”
