Carrollton, Georgia, is a timeless example of an American “small town” where the hometown roots grow deep, neighbors help neighbors, and one does not have to look far to find a helping hand no matter the project. Two brothers in particular have lived this very lifestyle and have created a family legacy that continues to serve the Carrollton community.
Ronald and Stewart Smith founded Smith Brothers Supply in 1962 with the mindset of providing the Carrollton community with quality home improvement supplies and the know-how to accomplish home repair projects.
The idea to start such a business did not come to the brothers overnight but was the result of a needed service that the brothers gladly provided.
In the 1950s many of the Carrollton homes were without indoor bathrooms and plumbing. Ronald Smith set out to solve this problem by going door-to-door selling and installing the appropriate plumbing and bathroom furnishings these historic houses needed. With the business growing, Stewart Smith took over the sales portion, and Ronald set his focus to installations.
After purchasing the three-story building at 10 City Hall Avenue, Smith Brothers Supply opened their doors in 1962 and remains at the very same location today. Within seven short years, Smith Brothers Supply’s business grew and the brothers brought on nephew Ray Smith to the team.
Today, Smith Brothers Supply is run by Ronald Smith’s daughter Ashley Hendrix, alongside manager Steve Parker.
The irreplaceable team of employees provide sub-contracting as well as retail products and services to those looking for home improvements. The service does not stop with the tools and equipment needed for a particular job, but the staff is more than capable to provide expert advice. Visitors to the store may even receive a special greeting from Dixie the shop dog.
