After nearly a year of working on plans, RaceTrac has finally started construction on a store located across from Walgreens at the intersection of Fairburn and Lee Road. “It will be one of our new prototypes,” explained RaceTrac Director of Communications and Partnerships, Ashleigh Womack.
The new store will be about 5,500 square feet and will accommodate Swirl World, a self-serve frozen dessert station with a toppings bar that will include more than 40 options, including candies, fruits, hot fudge and caramel.
In addition to seating areas, free Wi-Fi and 20 fueling positions, it will also feature an expanded coffee bar with a variety of creamers and sweeteners and a made-to-order menu featuring pizzas and sandwiches.
Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the third-generation led, family-owned gas station empire has been serving guests since 1934 and now operates more than 450 convenience store locations in Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Texas. Named a top workplace across the four states in which it operates, it has been recognized on Forbes list of largest private companies every year since 1998.
Although a specific opening date has yet to be announced, it has been estimated that the new store could open sometime in the fall. “I don’t know what kind of time frame they have for the project. If the weather holds out they could be complete by the end of the year,” said Douglas County Planning and Zoning Director, Tracy Rye.
