Ribbon Cutting & 5K for the Second Segment of The Thread in Lagrange Planned for Saturday, April 21st

LaGrange, Ga. March 28, 2018 – Friends of The Thread are planning to hold the ribbon cutting of the second segment of The Thread Saturday, April 21st.

Segment 2 Ribbon Cutting is planned for Saturday, April 21st

The event will be held at Eastside Park in LaGrange starting at 8:30 a.m.

Festivities include a Chip Times USATF certified 5K, Cutest Dog on the Thread Contest, Ribbon Cutting, and a 1 Mile Walk. There will be plenty of giveaways, merchandise for sale, activities, and ice cream.

Here is the schedule of events for the day:

8:30am – 5K Runner report
9:00am – 5K Race
10:00am – Cutest Dog Contest
10:15am – Ribbon Cutting
10:30am – 1 Mile Walk

More about the 5K: This is the first ever timed 5K held by The Thread. The race will take place on our brand new Segment 2, spanning from Ware Street (By Twin Cedars) to the Harris Baseball complex. This is a USATF certified course. Parking is at Eastside Park (Niles Street). The course is a basic out and back with only one small incline, perfect for setting PRs. Official chip timing provided by Elite Race Timing. Participants will receive a Thread 5K T Shirt (guaranteed if registered by April 12th). Prizes for overall male/female and age group winners.

More on The Thread: The Thread is an environmentally sensitive, non-motorized, multipurpose trail designed to increase the health and wellness of the community through providing a safe environment in LaGrange, Georgia for fitness, recreation, transportation and special events. Currently, The Thread has a total 29 miles of trails planned.
